ABA SOUTH CHAIRMAN, HON. OBIALOR ANYANWU STORMS UMUOSI COMMUNITY, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO DEVELOPMENT, YOUTH MOBILISATION AND GRASSROOT INCLUSIVITY
…as Hon. Anyanwu Becomes First Ever Local Government Chairman to Visit the Community
The Executive Chairman of Aba South Local Government Area, Hon. Obialor Denis Anyanwu, on Monday attended the end-of-year get-together of the Umuosi community, popularly known as the Okorie Zone (Umuosi/Degeme/Awomanma), in what residents described as an historic and heart-warming visit.
Addressing the large gathering of residents, party faithful, youth groups and community leaders, Hon. Anyanwu expressed profound gratitude to God for the gift of life and for guiding Abians into the last month of the year. He further thanked God for giving Abia State a transformational leader in the person of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, whom he described as an “Ekwueme Governor,” noting that the Governor’s performance speaks for itself, affirming saying, “As E Dey Play, E Dey Show.”
He emphasized that Abia State has witnessed different shades of leadership in the past, but none can compare to the purposeful, transparent and people-centred governance currently on display.
Hon. Anyanwu highlighted some achievements recorded since assuming office on November 2025. He disclosed that his administration has supervised the grading of roads within Umuosi, including the opening of a new access route popularly called Power-Pass-Power. He also addressed essential amenities requested by the community such as pipe-borne water, street lights and others, adding that these demands will be captured in the 2026 Aba South LGA budget.
He assured residents that most of their priority needs will be delivered by next year, stressing that his administration remains committed to ensuring that no community is left behind in the developmental drive of Governor Otti’s government.
The chairman used the occasion to encourage all residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 elections. He reminded them that the coming elections are not battles fought with guns or machetes, but with PVCs, cautioning that anyone who fails to vote has indirectly supported the wrong candidate. He thanked the community for their overwhelming support during the 2023 governorship election, urging them not to relent as Governor Otti continues to champion transformational policies across Abia.
In his earlier remarks, the Chairman of the Umuosi Community Association, Mr. Anthony Nwaokeukwu, expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Anyanwu for visiting the community. He revealed that for more than 20 years, no Aba South LGA Chairman had visited the Community, describing the gesture as a clear sign of inclusivity and a new style of leadership. He also praised Governor Otti for his visible developmental strides in Aba and the entire state.
Adding their voices, community leader, Chief Elechi and others commended Hon. Anyanwu for his commitment to the grassroots and pledged the community’s continued support for Governor Otti’s administration.
The Ward Party Chairman also assured the Executive Chairman that 95% of eligible voters in the zone already possess their PVCs, noting that the ward remains one of the largest and politically active under Aba South.
The event ended on a high note, with residents applauding the Chairman’s assurances and expressing renewed confidence in the present administration’s commitment to grassroots development and i
nclusive governance.
