Governor Alex Otti Pledges to Reinvent Aba, Hails Radisson Blu-Enyimba Hotel, Aba, as Catalyst for Economic Transformation
In a robust display of his administration’s commitment to economic growth and infrastructural development, Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has assured that his government will continue to reinvent a conducive business environment to enhance the State’s economic fortunes.
Governor Otti gave the assurance on Wednesday during a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Aba Sports Club 1926, led by its Centenary President and 68th President of the Club, Chief Nkene Louis Enukeme, at the Governor’s office.
During the meeting, Governor Otti underscored that the ongoing transformation of Aba remains one of the top priorities of his administration.
“As a government, we’ll do everything possible to continue to reinvent Aba. We talked about the Radisson Blu – Enyimba Hotel, and of course construction is on. The presence of a Five-Star Hotel in Aba will automatically redefine and elevate virtually everything. It will not send people out, but it will bring them up,” Governor Otti said, highlighting key projects
The Governor further emphasized that establishing a world-class hospitality facility like the Radisson Blu-Enyimba Hotel would stimulate sector-wide improvements and foster healthy competition within the business community.
“There are gains to come. If you want to maintain a hotel in Aba, then you have to aim to be at the highest standard. That’s how societies improve. That’s how organisations also support society,” he stated.
Governor Otti also took the opportunity to congratulate Chief Nkene Louis Enukeme on his recent emergence as President of the Aba Sports Club 1926, lauding him for sustaining and building upon the legacies of his late father.
“It doesn’t happen like that very often. A lot of people who have built things, by the time they leave, the entire thing collapses. So, you need to also document some of those things that you did so that others can learn. I’m very proud of you; just keep it up,“ the Governor said.
Earlier in the session, Chief Nkene Louis Enukeme explained that the visit aimed to strengthen partnership and express solidarity with the Governor, noting the substantial infrastructural improvements achieved at the Club through the administration’s support.
“The visible shift in the governance culture of Abia State, characterised by fiscal discipline and a clear focus on infrastructural renewal, is not only commendable but serves as a beacon of hope for all Abians,“ he remarked.
Sir Enukeme further acknowledged the recent flag-off of the Radisson Blu-Enyimba Hotel in Aba as a direct alignment with Governor Otti’s rebuilding agenda. He assured that the Club is ready to complement government efforts by providing befitting golf and sports facilities for visitors to Aba.
The Club President also identified several urgent priorities for the Sports Club, including:
1. Remodeling of the event hall
2. Provision of a fully equipped ambulance and clinic to prevent sudden deaths
3. Installation of a functional fire hydrant system
These interventions, he noted, would ensure the Club continues to provide safe, modern, and world-class facilities for m
embers and visitors alike.
