SKILL UP ABIA WOMEN: STCI Opens Applications for Statewide Empowerment Programme
The Safe Tent Care Initiative (STCI) has officially announced the commencement of applications for its Skill Up Abia Women Programme, a fully sponsored three-month vocational training initiative aimed at empowering young women across the 17 Local Government Areas of Abia State.
The programme is designed to equip participants with practical, income-generating skills that can foster financial independence and entrepreneurship.
According to the organisers, the initiative targets committed young women who are eager to learn and apply new skills for personal and economic growth.
Participants will receive hands-on training in various vocational areas, including fashion design, hairdressing, make-up and gele tying, confectioneries and food processing, as well as bag and shoe making.
To be eligible, applicants must be female, between the ages of 16 and 35, and demonstrate a genuine need for skill acquisition to support their livelihood. Prospective candidates are also required to commit to attending at least 80 percent of the programme and must fall within the category of indigent or vulnerable individuals.
STCI emphasised that applicants are permitted to apply only once, warning that multiple submissions will lead to disqualification. The organisation also noted that submission of an application does not automatically guarantee selection, as a screening process will be conducted. Selection, it added, will be strictly quota-based across all local government areas to ensure fairness and inclusivity.
In a further clarification, the organisers advised that individuals who already possess viable skills or trades should refrain from applying and instead refer others who would benefit more from the opportunity.
Interested applicants can apply via the official portal: https://www.safetentcareinitiative.org/apply/skill-up, with the deadline set for Wednesday, March 25.
The Skill Up Abia Women Programme forms part of STCI’s broader commitment to promoting sustainable development and empowering vulnerable groups through targeted interventions in skills development and economic inclusion.
