Miss Ogadinma Winnie Miller Returns ₦2.5 Million Bribe from Ahoada West LGA Chairman, Demands Justice and Transparency
In a bold stand for justice and integrity, Miss Ogadinma Winnie Miller has returned a sum of ₦2.5 million that was sent to her by the Ahoada West Local Government Area (LGA) Chairman, Hon. Cheta Epelle, following an alleged assault incident.
The young woman was reportedly assaulted by the council boss some days back in 2026, sparking widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.
In a public statement, Miss Miller clarified her position regarding the funds, saying:
“The Chairman Hon Eugene Cheta Epelle transferred ₦2.5 million Naira bribe money to me, and I want to make it very clear to the public that this money was not requested by me and no agreement was reached between us for any form of compensation.
“I have been trying to refund the ₦2.5 million, but due to issues with my bank transfer I have been unable to complete the transaction yet. I am still making efforts to return it.
“This is also a direct message to the Chairman: Please understand that I did not reach any agreement with you regarding this case. Matters like this should be handled properly and transparently, not through shady payments.
“I cannot be bribed. What I want is simple do the right thing and let justice and accountability take its proper course.
“A big thank you to everyone who has continued to stand for truth and justice.”
The return of the funds underscores Miss Miller’s commitment to justice and her refusal to be influenced by monetary offers in cases of personal assault and misconduct by public officials. Her statement has drawn widespread support from citizens and advocacy groups, who have praised her courage in standing against corruption and demanding accountability from public officeholders.
The incident has reignited discussions on ethical conduct in public office and the proper mechanisms for addressing grievances against government officials. Citizens and civil society organizations continue to call for a transparent investigation into the assault, insisting that just
ice must prevail.
