Traditional Rulers, Community Chiefs Rally Behind Labour Party Leadership as Abia Grassroots Declare Total Support for Governor Alex Otti’s 2027 Re-election

The Abia State Council of Community Chiefs and Village Leaders has thrown its weight behind the leadership of the Labour Party in Abia State, declaring unwavering support for the re-election of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, in 2027 during a solidarity and congratulatory visit to the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Peter Azubuike.
The high-powered delegation, made up of respected traditional rulers, village heads, and community chiefs drawn from different Local Government Areas across Abia State, was led by Okenze Kingsley Egwuatu, as they converged to reaffirm their loyalty to the Labour Party administration and the transformational leadership currently being witnessed across the state.
Addressing the gathering during the visit, Okenze Kingsley Egwuatu explained that the mission of the delegation was not only to formally congratulate Hon. Peter Azubuike on his emergence as the State Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia State, but also to send a strong message that traditional institutions and grassroots leaders across the state remain fully aligned with the vision and governance direction of Governor Alex Otti.
He maintained that the ongoing infrastructural renewal, governance reforms, and developmental projects being executed across Abia communities have continued to inspire confidence among traditional rulers and residents at the grassroots level.
According to him, the impact of Governor Otti’s administration is already visible in different parts of the state, creating renewed hope among Abians and restoring public confidence in governance. He further disclosed that community leaders and chiefs would return to their respective communities to intensify mobilization, sensitization, and grassroots engagement in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
The delegation emphasized that the support for Governor Alex Otti transcends political affiliations, noting that many communities now see the present administration as a symbol of responsive leadership, transparency, accountability, and genuine development.
Responding to the show of solidarity, the Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Peter Azubuike, expressed deep appreciation to the traditional rulers and community leaders for the honour, encouragement, and confidence reposed in the party and the administration of Governor Alex Otti.
He described the movement to secure the reelection of Governor Otti in 2027 as a collective mission that requires the active participation of every stakeholder, including traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, women, party faithful, and ordinary citizens across the state.
Hon. Azubuike charged the chiefs and village leaders not to remain on the sidelines but to continue engaging their communities, strengthening grassroots support structures, and spreading the message of good governance and transformation being championed by the Labour Party administration in Abia State.
The Labour Party Chairman further declared that Abia State has rapidly become one of the most admired states in Nigeria under Governor Alex Otti due to the administration’s achievements in road infrastructure, governance reforms, economic revitalization, and people-centered policies.
He stressed that Abians are determined to sustain the current wave of transformation and would remain committed to protecting the progress already achieved under the present administration.
In a symbolic moment during the visit, the traditional rulers and community chiefs honoured Hon. Peter Azubuike with traditional regalia, including a ceremonial sword, waist strap, and other cultural symbols, as a mark of recognition for his leadership role and commitment to the advancement of the Labour Party and the development of Abia State.
The visit further highlighted the growing alliance between grassroots traditional institutions and the Labour Party leadership in Abia State as the party continues to consolidate its structures and strengthen support ahead of future political engagements.
