The crucial meeting brought together key figures within the leadership structure of the party in the state and centered on strengthening internal cohesion, deepening party structures, sustaining the current political momentum, and setting clear strategic directions ahead of future political engagements and the 2027 general elections.
During the meeting, Governor Alex Otti expressed deep appreciation to the newly elected members of the State Working Committee for accepting the responsibility of steering the affairs of the Labour Party in Abia State at a defining moment in the political history of the state and the nation.
The Governor praised party members and supporters for their unwavering loyalty, resilience, and steadfastness throughout the recent internal turbulence experienced within the party, noting that their commitment played a major role in preserving the unity, stability, and credibility of the Labour Party despite intense political pressures and distractions.
Governor Otti reaffirmed his confidence in the future of the Labour Party, declaring that the movement continues to gain massive acceptance and growing goodwill across Nigeria. He maintained that the Labour Party has evolved into a formidable national political force driven by the aspirations, hopes, and yearnings of ordinary Nigerians who are demanding accountable leadership, transparency, and people-oriented governance.
According to the Governor, more political stakeholders, grassroots mobilizers, young Nigerians, and influential actors across the country are already identifying with the Labour Party and are expected to formally align with the movement in the coming months as the political atmosphere ahead of 2027 continues to gather momentum.
Governor Otti further charged the newly inaugurated SWC members to remain focused, united, disciplined, and committed to advancing the core ideals upon which the Labour Party stands, including good governance, inclusiveness, accountability, transparency, and transformational leadership that directly impacts the lives of the people.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Labour Party in Abia State, Hon. Peter “The Rock” Azubuike, commended Governor Alex Otti for his visionary leadership, unwavering support for the party, and the confidence reposed in the newly elected leadership of the State Working Committee.
Hon. Azubuike assured the Governor that the new SWC is fully prepared and committed to repositioning, rebuilding, and strengthening the Labour Party structure across all wards, local governments, and senatorial zones in Abia State.
He pledged that the party leadership would work relentlessly to sustain the current political dominance of the Labour Party in the state while mobilizing massive grassroots support that would guarantee overwhelming victories for Governor Alex Otti and all Labour Party candidates in the 2027 general elections.
In a major highlight of the meeting, the State Chairman formally presented the strategic ROADMAP developed by the State Working Committee. The comprehensive document is expected to serve as the operational framework for the party’s activities, political mobilization, organizational expansion, stakeholder engagements, membership drive, and electoral strategy moving forward.
The roadmap is also designed to strengthen internal party structures, enhance coordination among stakeholders, improve grassroots penetration, and ensure sustainable electoral success for the Labour Party in Abia State over the long term.
The meeting further resolved to convene an Extraordinary Labour Party Leadership and Stakeholders Meeting in the near future as part of broader efforts to deepen unity, strategic collaboration, and political alignment among party leaders, stakeholders, elected officials, and loyal supporters across the state.
The planned stakeholders’ engagement is expected to provide a platform for wider consultations, consolidation of party structures, harmonization of strategies, and renewed commitment towards sustaining the growing political influence of the Labour Party in Abia State.
With the renewed energy within the party and the growing confidence among stakeholders, the Labour Party in Abia State continues to position itself as a dominant political force committed to strengthening democratic values, promoting people-centered governance, and sustaining the transformational leadership currently being witnessed under the administration of Governor Alex Chioma Otti.
