2031 Ambition, Greed and Secret Deals: APC Stalwart Explodes Over Alleged Plot Tearing Abia APC Apart
Fresh cracks have emerged within the All Progressives Congress in Abia State as a prominent party stalwart launched a blistering attack against the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, accusing him of masterminding what he described as a selfish political agenda capable of destroying the party’s chances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an emotionally charged reaction that has stirred political conversations across the state and the APC WhatsApp platform, the APC chieftain questioned the direction of the party and lamented what he called the abandonment of the ideals and sacrifices made by loyal party faithful.
The aggrieved stalwart specifically questioned the emergence of “Chief Eric Opah” as a major figure within the party’s governorship calculations, insisting that the individual allegedly lacks grassroots political strength to deliver victory for the APC in Abia State.
According to him, the ongoing political maneuvering within the party is not about strengthening the APC for 2027, but rather about positioning certain individuals for a long-term personal ambition targeted at 2031.
The party stalwart alleged that the current developments within the APC are being driven by greed, selfish calculations, and carefully orchestrated political arrangements designed to favour a select camp within the party hierarchy.
He further expressed outrage over the alleged exclusion of Hon. Martin Azubuike from the political equation despite claims that his nomination form was financed by influential figures within the party.
The APC member insinuated that financial considerations and political convenience may have played a major role in determining who eventually gained prominence within the unfolding power game.
In one of the most controversial parts of the outburst, the stalwart mocked what he described as a desperate search for a financially powerful candidate, claiming that once the alleged directive to “get me onye ji ego” was issued, “Dr. Eric Opah” suddenly emerged on the scene.
He also accused party strategists of sacrificing the political future of “Daa Nkechi” in what he termed a calculated zoning arrangement aimed at protecting other interests within Abia Central.
According to the APC insider, the alleged arrangement was built around the argument that the party could not produce both a governorship candidate and retain the Abia Central Senate seat from Ala-Ngwa extraction.
The accusations did not end there.
The party stalwart further alleged that plans were already underway to draft a “Luxury City” boss, Rt. Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe described as a “Man of God,” into the political structure either as a running mate or Director-General of the campaign, pointing to recent public appearances beside Dr. Eric Opah as evidence of an unfolding alliance.
Amid the internal accusations and growing tension, the APC stalwart warned that the party risks losing even the political positions it currently controls if the alleged one-man political domination continues unchecked.
He also referenced alleged failed moves to lure Hon. Ginger Onwusibe into the APC governorship race, claiming the lawmaker was too politically experienced to fall into the plot.
The explosive claims have further exposed the widening divisions and distrust brewing within the Abia APC as political camps continue realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
While the allegations remain personal opinions from a party stakeholder and have not been officially responded to by Benjamin Kalu or the Abia APC leadership, the development signals intensifying power struggles that could shape the future of the party in the state.
