Democracy Day 2026: Aba North Chairman Timothy Kalu Iheke Reaffirms Commitment to Unity, Progress and Democratic Governance
As Nigeria commemorated Democracy Day 2026, the Executive Chairman of Aba North Local Government Area, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, joins millions of Nigerians in celebrating the nation’s democratic journey while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to grassroots development, unity, and good governance.
In a goodwill message released to mark the historic occasion, the council chairman described democracy as the bedrock of national progress and a system that empowers citizens to actively participate in shaping the future of their communities and the nation at large.
Aligning his message with the theme, “Celebrating Our Commitment to a Strong, Unified, and Democratic Nation,” Hon. Iheke emphasized the importance of preserving democratic values, strengthening institutions, and fostering peaceful coexistence among Nigerians irrespective of political, ethnic, or religious differences.
The chairman noted that Democracy Day serves as a significant reminder of the sacrifices made by the nation’s democratic heroes whose courage and resilience paved the way for the freedoms Nigerians enjoy today. He stressed the need for citizens to continually uphold the principles of justice, accountability, equity, and patriotism in order to sustain the gains of democracy.
According to him, nation-building is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation and cooperation of all citizens. He urged residents of Aba North and Nigerians in general to remain committed to promoting unity, supporting democratic institutions, and contributing positively to the development of their communities.
Hon. Iheke further reiterated his administration’s determination to deliver people-oriented leadership and accelerate development across Aba North through policies and initiatives designed to improve the welfare of residents and create opportunities for sustainable growth.
The council boss expressed optimism that with continued commitment to democratic ideals, Nigeria would overcome its challenges and emerge stronger, more united, and more prosperous.
