Abia State Govt Gives Land Allottees 14-Day Deadline for Verification, Warns of Revocation
The Abia State Government has directed all individuals allocated plots of land at the Government Station Layout, Uzoakoli, to immediately present their allocation documents for verification and regularization, warning that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe could lead to the revocation of their allocations.
The directive was contained in a public notice issued by the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Lands and dated June 26, 2026.
According to the notice, every person who received a plot of land at the Government Station Layout, Uzoakoli, from the Abia State Government is required to present their allocation papers alongside all other relevant documents relating to their respective plots at the Ministry of Lands in Umuahia.
The verification exercise, the government explained, is aimed at regularizing land allocations and ensuring proper documentation of all legitimately allocated plots within the estate.
The Ministry further stated that all affected allottees must comply with the directive within fourteen (14) days from the date of the publication.
It warned that any allottee who fails to present the required documents within the stipulated period risks forfeiting the allocation, adding that the government reserves the right to re-allocate such plots without any further notice.
The notice reads in part: “This is to inform all persons who were allocated plots of land at the Government Station Layout, Uzoakoli, by the Abia State Government, to immediately present their Allocation Papers and all other relevant documents relating to their plots to the Ministry of Lands, Umuahia, for verification and regularization.“
It further cautioned that, “Failure to present the required documents within the stipulated period may result in the loss of the allocation, and Government reserves the right to re-allocate such plots without further notice.“
The Ministry advised affected allottees seeking clarification or further information to visit the Ministry of Lands, Block A, Workers’ Secretariat, Ogurube Layout, Umuahia.
The public notice was signed by the State Director of Lands, ESV. Mong N. Uduma, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Abia State.
The latest directive underscores the Abia State Government’s commitment to strengthening land administration, ensuring transparency in land ownership records, and promoting orderly physical development across the state.
