Gospel Film Industry Mourns Again as ‘Abattoir’ Actor Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi Dies
The gospel film industry has been thrown into another season of mourning following the death of Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, the talented actor widely known for his role as Flora’s husband in the popular Mount Zion Film Productions series, Abattoir.
His passing marks yet another painful loss for the Mount Zion family and the gospel movie community, coming barely months after the deaths of other notable cast members from the acclaimed production.
Oyeyemi’s death follows the heartbreaking passing of actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who portrayed his on-screen wife, Flora, in Abattoir. She died on February 4, 2025, after battling severe complications arising from a tragic road accident that occurred on December 26, 2024, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The accident also claimed the life of one of her two-year-old twin daughters, leaving the gospel film community devastated.
Her death attracted an outpouring of tributes from across the Christian entertainment industry, with leading gospel filmmakers, including Evangelist Mike Bamiloye and Joshua Mike-Bamiloye, celebrating her dedication, faith, and contributions to gospel drama. Before her demise, the Abattoir family had also mourned the passing of veteran actor Moses Korede Are, popularly known as Baba Gbenro, another respected member of the cast.
With the death of Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, the beloved on-screen couple of Flora and her husband has now been permanently separated by death, a reality that has left fans deeply emotional. Their memorable performances and remarkable chemistry in Abattoir earned them admiration from audiences across Nigeria and beyond, making them unforgettable figures in the gospel film industry.
According to the official funeral arrangements released by the family, a Service of Songs in honour of Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, while his burial ceremony is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2026, in Ibadan. Family members, friends, colleagues, and admirers are expected to gather to celebrate his life, faith, and lasting legacy.
As Mount Zion Film Productions continues to navigate this difficult period of repeated losses, members of the gospel film community have continued to express solidarity, prayers, and support for the bereaved families and the ministry.
Omooba Oluwasegun Oyeyemi will be remembered for his commitment to gospel filmmaking, his inspiring performances, and the impact he made through Abattoir. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of viewers and within the gospel film movement.
