An aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has claimed that United States President Donald Trump has now been made aware of court documents relating to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s alleged past legal records in the United States.
The claim comes amid renewed attention to a decades-old civil forfeiture case involving Tinubu, following reports that a Washington-based lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York L.C., has begun circulating United States Department of Justice records to officials within the Trump administration and members of the US Congress.
According to earlier reports, the lobbying firm said the documents were being shared with administration officials, lawmakers and senior congressional aides as part of an effort to draw attention to allegations contained in filings made by US authorities during investigations conducted in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Reacting to the development in a post shared on his verified X (formally Twitter) account on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, Ibe alleged that Tinubu’s 60-page US Department of Justice files relating to alleged heroin trafficking and the forfeiture of $460,000 had now been brought to President Trump’s attention through the lobbying firm, Batten Von.
He further argued that Nigerians deserve full disclosure on the matter.

“Manuel Noriega on my mind. Nigerians deserve to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The best is being saved for last.”
However, Ibe did not present evidence to substantiate his assertion that President Trump had been formally briefed on the documents. He also did not indicate whether any action had been taken by the US President or his administration regarding the allegations.
The claims add another layer to the ongoing political debate surrounding the long-standing US records linked to President Tinubu, although no official confirmation has been issued by the White House or the Trump administration regarding
Ibe’s assertions.
