Netanyahu Blasts New York City Mayor, Mamdani Over Israel-Hamas Stance, Vows to Attend UN Assembly
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has launched a scathing attack on New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani over the mayor’s position on the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, accusing him of siding with Hamas and rejecting allegations of genocide against Israel.
Speaking forcefully on the issue, Netanyahu alleged that Mamdani had shown support for Hamas following the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
“He celebrated the October 7th massacre… he’s supporting the Hamas murderers who raped our women,” Netanyahu declared.
The Israeli leader further accused the New York mayor of aligning himself with Hamas, insisting that accusations of genocide should be directed at the militant group rather than Israel.
Netanyahu also criticized Mamdani’s leadership, claiming the mayor was “tormenting his own citizens” while maintaining what he described as an anti-Israel position.
The remarks came as Netanyahu reaffirmed his intention to travel to New York for the upcoming United Nations General Assembly, despite the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant issued against him.
Addressing suggestions that the warrant could deter his visit, Netanyahu dismissed the possibility and insisted he would proceed with the trip.
In a strongly worded statement directed at the mayor, Netanyahu said:
“A Jew is stabbed with a cry of Allahu Akbar! You know what that means! It’s shameful…
“I intend to come and speak the truth, speak for Israel and the Israeli-American alliance from the podium of the United Nations.“
The latest exchange underscores the deepening political divisions surrounding the Israel-Hamas war, with the conflict continuing to generate intense debate among political leaders in the United States, Israel, and across the international community.
