2027: Rivers APC Picks Major Jack as Chinda’s Running Mate
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has unveiled the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Major Jack, as its deputy governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development marks another major step in the party’s preparations for the governorship contest, with Jack expected to join forces with the APC governorship candidate, Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, as the party seeks to consolidate its political structure across the state.
The APC Publicity Secretary in Rivers State, Ikenga Chibike, confirmed Jack’s emergence on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
With his selection, Major Jack will now officially serve as Chinda’s running mate on the APC ticket, creating a joint ticket that brings together two prominent figures in the state’s political landscape.
Chinda emerged as the party’s governorship candidate following the APC primary election conducted in May 2026.
Jack, who hails from Abonnema in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, is an engineer and experienced legislator. He currently serves as the Majority Leader of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.
His political journey took a significant turn in December 2025 when he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) political structure to the APC alongside the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, and several other lawmakers.
The choice of Jack as the deputy governorship candidate is expected to further shape the APC’s campaign strategy as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 election.
With the governorship ticket now completed, attention is expected to shift towards how the Chinda-Jack ticket will position itself against other contenders in what is likely to be a keenly contested race for the leadership of Rivers State.
