Responsibilities of a Julius Berger Workshop Engineer:
As part of the programme, the Workshop Engineer will be expected to support the Workshop Supervisor in technical and quality-related activities involving the repair, servicing and maintenance of equipment.
Key responsibilities include:
– Reviewing work orders and determining appropriate repair methods, tools and materials for efficient and technically sound execution.
– Providing engineering support during troubleshooting, diagnostics and the identification of alternative technical solutions when standard parts or methods are unavailable.
– Assisting with in-process and final inspections to ensure completed repairs meet required quality, functionality and safety standards.
– Ensuring test runs and functional checks are conducted safely by authorised and licensed personnel.
– Accurately documenting inspection results, measurements and quality findings in the Equipment Programme or other designated records.
– Reporting deviations, recurring equipment failures and non-conformities to the Workshop Supervisor and Senior Engineer.
– Supporting root-cause analysis and the implementation of corrective measures.
– Assisting with Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) activities and monitoring technical performance indicators to identify areas for improvement.
– Providing technical guidance and knowledge transfer to mechanics, electricians and technicians.
– Ensuring workshop standards, safety procedures and quality requirements are consistently maintained.
– Making sure maintenance operations comply with PED safety guidelines.
– Supporting the Workshop Supervisor in maintaining discipline, order and the proper use of tools and materials.
Requirements for the Julius Berger Workshop Engineer Development Programme
Interested applicants must meet the required academic, professional and technical criteria.
Applicants are expected to:
1. Possess a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automobile Engineering or a related technical field.
2. Have between two and three years of experience in maintenance, repairs, fleet management or engineering support within the Plant and Equipment Department.
3. Provide a written recommendation from their current Supervisor or Manager confirming good conduct and discipline, technical suitability and readiness for further professional development.
4. Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical or hydraulic systems.
5. Be able to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams and workshop documentation.
6. Possess strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
7. Demonstrate responsibility, integrity and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
