Nigerian Air Force Opens 2026 Recruitment Portal for Tradesmen, Non-Tradesmen

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has officially announced the commencement of its 2026 recruitment exercise for eligible Nigerians seeking to enlist as Tradesmen, Tradeswomen, Non-Tradesmen and Non-Tradeswomen under the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC 47/2026).

The online enlistment exercise is scheduled to run from September 3 to October 14, 2026, giving qualified applicants an opportunity to submit their applications through the official Nigerian Air Force recruitment portal.

Applicants are advised to carefully study the eligibility requirements and other instructions on the portal before submitting their forms.

Those who successfully complete the application process will be required to print their Acknowledgment Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form and Local Government Area Attestation Form.

Who Can Sign the Attestation Form?

The Local Government Area Attestation Form must be endorsed by an authorised official who falls into one of the following categories:

A military officer from the applicant’s state, not below the rank of Wing Commander in the Nigerian Air Force or an equivalent rank in the Nigerian Army or Nigerian Navy.

A Police Officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) or above.

A substantive Local Government Chairman or Secretary.

A Magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin.

The signed attestation form must also carry the passport photograph of the signatory and a clear photocopy of the signatory’s valid Driver’s Licence, National Identification Card or International Passport.

The NAF stressed that applicants who do not successfully complete their online applications will not be able to generate the required documents.

General Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must satisfy a number of basic conditions before they can be considered for enlistment.

Candidates must:

Be Nigerian citizens by birth.

Be at least 1.66 metres tall for males and 1.63 metres for females.

Be medically, physically and psychologically fit according to Nigerian Air Force standards.

Have no previous criminal conviction by a court of law.

Requirements for Tradesmen and Tradeswomen:

Applicants seeking enlistment under the Tradesmen/Tradeswomen category must be between 18 and 27 years old by March 1, 2027.

Candidates with ND or NCE qualifications are required to have at least a Lower Credit from accredited institutions, in addition to a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in SSCE, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS, obtained in not more than two sittings.

For driver positions and other trades requiring a Trade Test, applicants must possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in the recognised examinations, as well as the relevant Trade Test Certificate.

Applicants seeking driver positions must also possess a valid driving licence.

Meanwhile, candidates applying under sports categories are expected to provide verifiable evidence of professional sporting experience, including relevant certificates and medals.

Requirements for Non-Tradesmen and Non-Tradeswomen:

Applicants under the Non-Tradesmen/Non-Tradeswomen category must be between 18 and 22 years old by March 1, 2027.

They must also possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in SSCE, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS, obtained in not more than two sittings.

In addition, applicants are required to have their Primary School Certificate and Secondary School Testimonial.

Aptitude Test and Selection Board Interview:

Following the close of online registration, shortlisted applicants will proceed to the next stage of the recruitment exercise.

The Zonal General Aptitude Test will be conducted on a date that will be announced through the official Nigerian Air Force recruitment portal.

Only candidates who successfully pass the aptitude test will proceed to the Selection Board Interview.

Applicants are therefore advised to regularly monitor the recruitment portal for updates and further instructions.
