President Trump Bans CNN, MSNOW and Politico From White House, Accuses Outlets of “FAKE NEWS”
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a ban on CNN, MSNOW and Politico from the White House, accusing the media organizations of repeatedly publishing what he described as false and misleading reports about his administration.
Trump made the announcement in a post on his X account, where he criticized the three media outlets and questioned their credibility and coverage of his presidency.
The U.S. President specifically referenced MSNOW, which he said had recently changed its name from MSNBC, attributing the change to what he described as a decline in viewership and credibility.
Trump also singled out Politico over an alleged $8 million subscription arrangement with the United States Government during the administration of former President Joe Biden. He characterized the alleged payment as improper and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the transaction.
In announcing the restriction, Trump wrote:
“I am proud to announce that, effective immediately, I am banning Fake News CNN, MSNOW (who recently changed their name from MSNBC due to lack of viewership and credibility!), and Politico (The recipients of an illegal and ridiculous $8 Million Dollar subscription, an All Time Record, directly from the United States Government, under Crooked Joe Biden, in order to keep them “alive.” Seems like corruption to me!), from the White House as a result of their constant “reporting” FAKE NEWS! Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America. Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow. Thank you for your attention to this matter!“
The announcement represents another escalation in Trump’s long-running confrontation with major American news organizations, particularly outlets he has frequently accused of unfair or inaccurate coverage of his administration.
Trump has repeatedly argued that news organizations should be held accountable when reporting on the president and federal government, while major media organizations have maintained that their role is to independently scrutinize public officials and government actions.
The latest announcement is expected to generate further debate over the relationship between the White House and the American press, particularly concerning media access, presidential transparency and the boundaries between executive authority and independent journalism.
