All Progressives Congress National Working Committee Suspends Abia State Congresses Over Ongoing Consultations and Administrative Preparations
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress has announced the suspension of all state, local government, and ward congresses scheduled to hold in Abia State.
The decision was made public in an official statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.
According to the statement, the suspension follows ongoing consultations within the party and the need to conclude certain preparatory and administrative processes ahead of the congresses. The leadership explained that the move is aimed at ensuring that the exercise, when conducted, will be orderly, transparent, and credible.
The NWC emphasized its commitment to internal democracy and due process, noting that the additional time would allow the party to properly address logistical and structural matters necessary for a smooth and hitch-free congress in Abia State.
The party further assured stakeholders that a revised timetable for the congresses would be communicated in due course. It added that the new schedule of activities would be formally transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission in line with statutory requirements.
The development comes amid heightened political activities within the state chapter of the party, as members and aspirants prepare for the next phase of internal reorganization and leadership restructuring.
