In commemoration of World Diabetes Day 2025, Hon. Timothy Kalu Iheke, Executive Chairman of Aba North Local Government Area, has called on residents to prioritize awareness, prevention, and proper management of diabetes, aligning with this year’s global theme, “Diabetes across life stages.”

In the message made available to pressmen, Hon. Iheke emphasized that diabetes affects individuals at every stage of life from children to the elderly and urged the community to take proactive steps toward early detection and healthy living. He highlighted the importance of regular health screenings, balanced diets, and physical activity as essential measures to safeguard the health of residents.

“From promoting healthy lifestyles among our youth to ensuring adults and seniors have access to proper care, every stage of life presents an opportunity to combat the silent threat of diabetes,” Iheke stated.

He further called on the community to support those living with diabetes with compassion and access to necessary medical care.

The Council Chairman stressed that education and awareness remain the most powerful tools in preventing and managing diabetes. He encouraged every resident to take personal responsibility for their health, underscoring that “awareness today can save lives tomorrow.”

The call comes at a time when health experts worldwide continue to raise concerns about the rising prevalence of diabetes and its complications, highlighting the urgent need for communities to adopt preventive measures at all life stages.
