Abia Government Begins Reallocation of Newly-Built Shops at Ekeoha Shopping Complex, Aba

The Abia State Government, through the Ministry of Trade and Commerce, has officially announced the commencement of the much-anticipated reallocation exercise for newly-built shops at the Ekeoha Shopping Complex in Aba, marking another significant step in the ongoing transformation and modernization of commercial infrastructure in the state.

The exercise is being carried out in partnership with Rhino Homes and Properties Limited and is targeted at individuals who have fully paid for shops in the Phase One development of the market project.

According to the public announcement issued by the ministry, participation in the exercise is strictly limited to qualified persons, including existing shop owners affected by the redevelopment who possess original allocation certificates listed in the official Market Register, as well as new applicants who have obtained preliminary clearance from Rhino Homes and the Ministry of Trade and Commerce.

The government stated that all participants seeking full clearance and reallocation must provide documented evidence of previous ownership or preliminary clearance approval, alongside proof of full payment for shop allocation.

Authorities disclosed that the reallocation exercise commenced on Thursday, May 7, 2026, and will run through Thursday, May 14, 2026, giving eligible applicants ample opportunity to complete the process either online or physically.

For the online process, applicants are expected to visit abiamrv.com.ng to fill out the required forms and upload relevant documents, with an active email address being mandatory for successful submission.

Applicants who prefer physical verification are directed to visit the GADA Building, No. 3 River Avenue, Aba, on working days between 9:00am and 4:00pm, where they are expected to present both original and duplicate copies of their documents. Officials also noted that a valid National Identification Card will be required for physical participation.

The Ministry emphasized that upon completion of the exercise, all successfully validated shop allocations will be formally entered into the official Market Register, while Certificates of Allocation will subsequently be issued by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce.

Observers say the exercise reflects the determination of the administration of Alex Otti to reposition Aba as a thriving commercial hub through organized market reforms, improved infrastructure, and transparent allocation processes aimed at boosting investor confidence and protecting legitimate business owners.

The government further advised interested participants and stakeholders to channel all enquiries through the online platform or via the official email address of the Ministry of Trade and Commerce.
