Abia Government Strengthens Partnership with Printing Professionals as Information Commissioner Receives CIPPON Delegation
The Honourable Commissioner for Information in Abia State, Prince Okey Kanu, has received members of the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria (CIPPON) alongside representatives of the Abia State Printers Association during a courtesy visit to his office, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to collaboration with professional bodies.
During the meeting, the Commissioner commended the institute and the association for their dedication to professionalism and standards within the printing industry. He noted that their visit demonstrates the strengthening relationship between professional institutions and the Abia State Government under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti.
According to him, the administration remains open to partnerships that encourage innovation, professionalism, and economic growth across different sectors of the state’s economy.
The delegation was led by Pastor Chimezie Nwarie, the Government Printer at the Government Press, who explained that the visit was aimed at identifying with the ongoing transformation being witnessed in the state. He highlighted the administration’s infrastructural developments, improved governance structure, and reforms that are gradually restoring public confidence in the state’s institutions.
Nwarie further explained that the Chartered Institute of Professional Printers of Nigeria is a professional regulatory body created through an Act of Parliament in 2011 to oversee standards and professionalism within the printing industry. He also disclosed that Abia State has been selected to host the South East Conference of the institute scheduled for April 6–7, an event expected to attract printing professionals and stakeholders from across the region.
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Olowohunwa Tunji Jerome, a national council member of the institute, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for the warm reception accorded to the delegation. He reiterated the institute’s commitment to promoting professional development while strengthening collaboration with government institutions for the advancement of the printing industry.
Other dignitaries present during the visit included the General Manager of the Abia Newspapers Publishing Corporation, Hon. Jones Nnanna Ike; the President of the Abia State Printers Association, Mr. Onyemachi Onwuchekwa; Mr. Adindu Victor Ndubuisi; Sir Anthony Ibeh; Mr. Adeyemi Olaiya, among others.
