ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES 2ND INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR, SET TO BOOST ECONOMIC GROWTH AND SHOWCASE LOCAL PRODUCTS
The Abia State Government has confirmed that the 2nd Abia International Trade Fair is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, 9th December, at the designated Trade Fair Grounds in Abia. The official opening ceremony, according to the government, will take place at 11:00 a.m., marking the beginning of what is expected to be another major commercial milestone for the state.
The disclosure was made by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, during a media briefing on Monday at the Government House, Umuahia. He addressed journalists shortly after the week’s Executive Council meeting, which was presided over by Governor Alex Otti, noting that preparations have reached advanced stages to ensure a successful event.
According to the Commissioner, all 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Abia have fully procured exhibition stands to present goods and innovations peculiar to their regions. This development, he said, not only reflects the government’s commitment to promoting grassroots entrepreneurship but also highlights the increasing confidence among local producers in the state’s growing commercial ecosystem.
In addition, the Commissioner revealed that the trade fair will host a broad exhibition of products from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating within Abia and beyond. These SMEs will have the opportunity to display a range of locally made goods and services, providing a platform for greater market exposure and business networking.
Prince Kanu emphasized the significance of the event to Abia’s economic transformation drive, stating:
“The Trade Fair promises to be another great event that will further strengthen Aba as the economic and commercial hub of the State.”
With Aba already renowned for its vibrant industrial and commercial activities, the upcoming trade fair is widely anticipated to strengthen the city’s position as a leading hub for innovation, product manufacturing, trade, and investment in Nigeria.
The event is also expected to attract investors, buyers, and stakeholders from across the country and beyond, further expanding business opportunities for Abians.
As preparations continue, the state government has reiterated its dedication to policies that support enterprise development, employment creation, and economic diversification across Abia.
