APC Rally Attendees Protest ₦3,000 Payment, Threaten to Shun Future Campaign Events
A group of residents reportedly hired to attend an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Kano State have expressed dissatisfaction after receiving just ₦3,000 for their participation.
The residents, who were among those mobilised for the political gathering, publicly complained that the amount paid to them was insufficient to cover their transportation expenses and other costs associated with attending the event.
In a video circulating on social media, the men were seen wearing yellow APC polo shirts bearing the inscription “Turakin Kano 2027” as they voiced their grievances over the payment.
One of the men, speaking on behalf of the group, explained that some participants had to borrow money to cover their transportation to the rally venue.
According to him, the ₦3,000 they received did not adequately compensate them for the expenses incurred, as well as the time spent at the political event.
The group also warned that they could reconsider attending similar rallies in the future if the same amount continued to be offered to participants.
The complaint has since generated reactions online, with social media users debating the practice of mobilising residents to fill campaign venues in exchange for financial incentives.
Crowd mobilisation for political rallies has become a familiar feature of Nigeria’s political landscape, with political parties and campaign groups often relying on organised supporters and residents to boost attendance at major events.
The Kano incident has consequently renewed discussions about the conditions under which residents are mobilised for political gatherings, particularly the financial expectations of participants and the rising cost of transportation.
While the identities of those who allegedly organised the mobilisation and the exact circumstances surrounding the payment could not be independently established from the video, the footage has continued to attract 
attention online.
