ASTOPU ABA ZONE MOBILISES FOR MEGA ROADSHOW AS TRICYCLE OPERATORS DECLARE “NDI KEKE SAYS YOU WILL GO AGAIN”
The Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU), Aba Zone, is set to stage a mega roadshow across Aba on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as commercial tricycle operators and transport stakeholders prepare to demonstrate their support for Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Tagged “ASTOPU ROADSHOW FOR DR. ALEX CHIOMA OTTI’S RE-ELECTION,” the high-profile procession is expected to bring together tricycle operators, transport stakeholders, political leaders and government officials in a show of solidarity with the Abia State Governor and his anticipated second-term bid.
With the rallying slogan “Ndi Keke Says You Will Go Again,“ the roadshow is designed to project the position of participating commercial tricycle operators on the 2027 political contest, while highlighting their involvement in the growing political activities surrounding Governor Otti’s re-election campaign.
The organisers have also associated the governor with the title “Obi Uto Ndị Keke,“ reflecting the identity and support message adopted by the tricycle operators as they prepare for the planned procession.
According to the organisers, the roadshow will commence at the Osisioma Flyover, proceed through No. 1 Port Harcourt Road, and terminate at the Aba Town Hall.
Activities are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., with tricycle operators and other invited stakeholders expected to participate in the procession through designated routes in the commercial city.
The event is expected to draw public attention as participants use the roadshow to communicate their political message and demonstrate the involvement of the commercial transport sector in Abia’s evolving political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
The initiative is being spearheaded by Comrade Victor Azubuike, Chairman of ASTOPU, Aba Zone, who is coordinating the union’s participation alongside tricycle stakeholders across Aba. The planned roadshow underscores the political engagement of commercial transport operators, whose daily activities place them at the heart of mobility, commerce and economic life in Aba.
Beyond their role in transporting residents and facilitating business activities, participating operators are expected to use the gathering as an opportunity to publicly express their position on the state’s political future.
The roadshow is also expected to attract prominent political and government figures from across the area, including the mayors of Aba North, Aba South, Osisioma, Obingwa and Ugwunagbo Local Government Areas.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include the Abia State Labour Party Chairman, Hon. Peter Azubuike; the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Isaac Ukeagbu; and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport, Dr. Obioma Rueben Nwogbe, alongside other invited personalities.
Their expected presence is set to add political significance to the gathering, bringing together representatives of the state government, party leadership and the commercial transport community.
The October 29 procession is expected to provide a platform for ASTOPU Aba Zone and participating stakeholders to publicly demonstrate their support for Governor Otti’s anticipated second-term bid.
As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 governorship election, interest groups, community organisations and political associations across Abia are increasingly using public engagements to communicate their positions and mobilise supporters.
For the organisers of the ASTOPU roadshow, the central message is captured in their chosen slogan: Ndi Keke Says You Will Go Again.
With the Osisioma Flyover serving as the starting point and Aba Town Hall as the final destination, the planned procession is expected to bring the commercial transport community into the broader conversation about Abia State’s political direction ahead
of the next electoral cycle.
