Benue: Troops raid bandits’ hideout in Ukum, neutralise one, recover rifles

Troops from Sector 1 of Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, has conducted a raid on a bandits’ hideout located in the Aterayange general area of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State.

The operation led to the neutralisation of one suspected bandit and the recovery of weapons and ammunition.

Security expert Zagazola Makama reports that the mission took place between Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

According to sources, Sub-Sector 1A troops, under the command of Maj. M. Babalola, carried out the raid following intelligence on the whereabouts of a notorious bandit leader known as Full Fire.

The troops reached the target around 3:45 a.m., engaging the armed group. While Full Fire managed to escape, one bandit was killed during the clash.

Recovered items include two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, five AK-47 magazines, one G3 magazine, a hand grenade, two Baofeng radios, 162 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a motorcycle.
