…as Party Leadership Declares Gov. Otti “Poster Boy” of the Party
In what has been described as a major political endorsement and a strong vote of confidence in the leadership of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party on Friday formally presented the governor with his nomination forms free of charge ahead of the next general elections.
The symbolic presentation ceremony took place at the Abia State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, where top national leaders of the Labour Party gathered to honour Governor Otti for what the party described as his exceptional performance, unwavering loyalty, and transformational governance in Abia State.
Leading the high-powered delegation was the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, who declared Governor Otti the “poster boy” of the party, applauding his administration for upholding the Labour Party’s core principles of equal opportunities, social justice, accountability, and people-oriented governance.
Senator Usman stated that the decision to grant Governor Otti the nomination forms free of charge was not only a reward for performance but also a strategic encouragement for him to continue delivering quality leadership and developmental projects across Abia State.
The Labour Party National Chairman further noted that Governor Otti’s achievements in governance have continued to strengthen the image and credibility of the party nationwide, especially at a time many Nigerians are yearning for transparent and responsible leadership.
Also speaking during the event, the National Secretary of the Labour Party, Hon. Obioma Iheanacho, commended Governor Otti for remaining steadfast and committed to the party despite internal political turbulence that once threatened its stability.
He noted that while many politicians abandoned the party during difficult moments, Governor Otti stood firmly with the Labour Party and consistently defended its vision and ideals. According to him, the governor’s political consistency and commitment to good governance have distinguished him as one of the most dependable leaders within the party structure.
Responding after receiving the nomination forms, Governor Alex Otti expressed deep appreciation to the party leadership for the honour and confidence reposed in him.
The governor assured the NWC that he would not take the gesture for granted, pledging to continue supporting the Labour Party while sustaining his administration’s developmental agenda in Abia State.
Governor Otti also used the opportunity to commend Senator Nenadi Usman for her leadership role in stabilizing and repositioning the Labour Party following months of internal disputes and legal battles.
He expressed confidence that the party has now fully overcome its crisis, declaring that all litigations and legal impediments previously confronting the Labour Party have been comprehensively resolved, thereby clearing the path for the party to focus fully on future electoral contests.
The event further reinforced the growing political momentum around Governor Otti’s leadership and the Labour Party’s renewed confidence ahead of the 2027 political season.
Among those who accompanied Senator Nenadi Usman to the ceremony were the National Secretary, Hon. Obioma Iheanacho; National Organising Secretary, Mrs. Oluchi Oparah; National Woman Leader, Hilda Dokubo; and the National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa.
The immediate past National Secretary of the party, Distinguished Senator Darlington Nwokocha, was also present and equally received his free nomination form from the party leadership.
Also in attendance were Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, who led the caucus of Abia State members in the House of Representatives, alongside other federal lawmakers from the state, members of the Abia State Executive Council, party stakeholders, and political allies of Governor Otti.
Political observers have described the development as a significant boost for Governor Otti and an indication of the Labour Party’s determination to consolidate its growing influence through leaders widely perceived as per
forming effectively in office.
