— Calls Gov. Alex Otti “Omenke-Ahuruna-Anya”

The Association of Former Elected Councillors of Abia State (1999–2022) has showered encomiums on the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, describing him as “amiable, people-oriented, and truly grassroots-driven.”

In a statement jointly signed by Hon. Anthony Agbanyim, State Chairman (Democracy), Prince Ogueji Okolie, PRO, and all 17 Local Government Coordinators, the association expressed deep gratitude to the governor for what they termed his “top-notch developmental strides” across the state and his unprecedented gesture of paying all arrears of salaries and entitlements owed to former elected councillors from 1999 to 2022.

According to the association, “Governments have come and gone since 1999, but it is only Governor Alex Otti that has remembered to pay all the arrears of salaries and entitlements of former elected councillors in Abia State, those who served under past PDP-led administrations.”

The statement further praised the governor for his commitment to justice, fairness, and equity, noting that he has consistently fulfilled his promises to critical sectors, including pensioners, civil servants, health workers, staff of Abia Polytechnic (now Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic), Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH), and teachers in primary and secondary schools.

“Now it’s the turn of former elected councillors, who are the true pillars and field marshals of the grassroots in Abia State. We have never had it this good before,” the group declared.

Pledging their unwavering loyalty and support to the Alex Otti-led administration, the former councillors urged the governor to remain steadfast despite criticisms from detractors.

“Sir, don’t be deterred by these detractors. A man without enemies is worthless. Under your watch, Abia has risen never to fall again. We say, thank you, Omenke-Ahuruna-Anya,” the statement read.

The association emphasized that they stand ready to defend the governor’s achievements in their respective wards, assuring him of their total solidarity as he continues to lead Abia State toward progress and prosperity.
