GOV. ALEX OTTI SPEAKS TO ABIANS: ABIA STRENGTHENS LAND ADMINISTRATION, MOVES TO RECOVER DEBTS AS GOV. OTTI UNVEILS INFRASTRUCTURE AND SECURITY UPDATES

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has announced major strides in land administration, debt recovery, infrastructural upgrades, and security preparedness as part of his administration’s ongoing reforms to improve governance and safeguard citizens.

During the November edition of the Monthly Media Parley, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Umuahia, the Governor revealed that the state has issued 3,562 Certificates of Occupancy within the last two and a half years, an accomplishment he linked to comprehensive automation of the land administration process. The digitisation initiative has significantly accelerated approval timelines while promoting transparency and eliminating bottlenecks that previously plagued the system.

In addition to streamlining land services, the Governor disclosed that the government has intensified efforts to recover outstanding debts owed to the state. He emphasised that debt recovery has become a top fiscal priority and that no individual, organisation, or institution would be exempt from compliance as the state strengthens its financial discipline.

Governor Otti also highlighted improvements within the Correctional Service, noting that work is ongoing on a perimeter fence and a one-storey building designed to enhance security while reducing congestion within the facility. The project aims to create a more humane environment and support rehabilitation efforts for inmates.

With the festive season drawing near, the Governor called on residents to maintain heightened vigilance and remain security conscious, assuring that the government is working closely with security agencies to ensure a peaceful and safe Christmas period across th e state.
