GOVERNOR ALEX OTTI TO UNVEIL ABIA STATE 25-YEAR DEVELOPMENT PLAN TOMORROW DECEMBER 16TH
The Abia State Government wishes to formally inform the general public that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, will on Tuesday, 16th December 2025, officially unveil the Abia State 25-Year Development Plan, a landmark and visionary policy framework of the present administration.
The unveiling ceremony is scheduled to take place by 2:00pm at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Umuahia.
The Abia State Government cordially invites key development partners and stakeholders to witness and participate in this historic event. These include UNDP, PIND, PACE, PwC, AGEAC, Local Government Chairmen, traditional rulers, student bodies, persons with disabilities (PWDs), as well as other relevant stakeholders.
This announcement follows the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Umuahia, and presided over by Governor Alex Otti. The 25-Year Development Plan represents one of the most significant legacy initiatives of the administration, deliberately designed to provide a transformative, structured and long-term roadmap for the socio-economic advancement of Abia State up to the middle of the 21st century.
The Development Plan articulates a comprehensive vision anchored on economic resilience, infrastructural expansion, social advancement and generational security. It is strategically structured around six key pillars: people and resources; growth and stability; sustainable economy; social infrastructure and inclusion; governance and reform; and cross-sector linkages.
When fully implemented, the plan is expected to build a dynamic and inclusive economy by unlocking local potential, strengthening productivity, and attracting both local and global investments across critical sectors of the state’s economy. It also places strong emphasis on the development of modern, climate-resilient infrastructure, including clean energy solutions, digital connectivity and sustainable urban planning.
Furthermore, the Development Plan prioritizes strong institutional frameworks that promote transparency, accountability, citizen participation, peace, security and inclusive development. It is a future-ready blueprint aimed at repositioning Abia State on a sustainable path of growth, competitiveness and prosperity.
The Abia State Government assures stakeholders, development partners and the general public of its unwavering commitment to the diligent and faithful implementation of this Development Plan, which is projected to elevate Abia State to the forefront of economic well-being and development among states in Nigeria.
