“Hard Times Don’t Last, Tough People Do” — Gov. Alex Otti Charges Abians to Remain Resilient, Celebrates MFM South-East Region 6 at 29th Anniversary

The Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has congratulated the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), South-East Region 6 Headquarters, Amuzukwu, Umuahia, on its 29th anniversary, urging Abians to remain resilient, responsible and committed to the collective rebuilding of the state.

Governor Otti delivered the message on Sunday, September 27, 2026, as Special Guest at the anniversary celebration held at the MFM South-East Region 6 Headquarters, Amuzukwu, Umuahia.

The Governor described the 29-year journey of the ministry as a significant milestone, reflecting sustained commitment, sacrifice, faith and service to God.

He commended the church for its steady growth over the years, noting that three Regional Overseers had served during its 29-year history. He also appreciated the contributions of the current leadership and prayed for continued growth, greater influence and increased impact.

Speaking beyond the anniversary, Governor Otti used the occasion to commend Abians for what he described as a growing culture of civic responsibility, particularly in environmental cleanliness, orderly conduct and compliance with public regulations.

The Governor recounted an incident involving a visitor to Umuahia who witnessed a motorist improperly disposing of waste and saw security personnel promptly intervene and compel the offender to return and retrieve the waste.

He said the incident, alongside the increasingly orderly conduct of motorists at traffic lights, demonstrated a positive shift in public attitude and growing support for efforts to rebuild Abia State.

“Our people are very good people. Very hardworking people. Honest people. That’s who we are,“ Governor Otti said.

While acknowledging that isolated cases of wrongdoing could occur in any society, the Governor maintained that such incidents should not overshadow the positive character and values of the majority of Abians.

He urged the people to sustain responsible citizenship and continue contributing positively to the development of the state.

Governor Otti also encouraged Abians to remain hopeful and resilient despite the difficulties confronting many families and businesses, emphasizing the importance of perseverance during challenging periods.

“Things may look difficult today. But hard times don’t last. Tough people do,“ The Governor encouraged.

Earlier, the Regional Overseer of MFM South-East Region 6, Pastor Olugbenga Aremu, delivered a sermon titled “Anointing for Success,” charging Christians to remain focused, resilient and committed to their God-given purpose.

Pastor Aremu drew lessons from biblical accounts of anointing and divine elevation, explaining that anointing represents God’s empowerment, authority and grace for the fulfilment of purpose.

He noted that challenges should not merely be viewed as obstacles, but could serve as preparation for greater responsibilities and opportunities.

The Regional Overseer also commended Governor Otti, whom he described as a man of vision, for the visible transformation across Abia State.

He particularly referenced developments in road infrastructure and other sectors, noting that the projects demonstrate purposeful leadership and a clear vision for the state’s development.

The anniversary celebration featured worship, prayers and the cutting of the anniversary cake and attracted dignitaries from government and other sectors.

Those in attendance included the Secretary to the Abia State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Meribeole; the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Ph.D.; the Mayor of Umuahia North Local Government Area, Hon. Smart Ihuoma; and other top government officials.

The celebration provided an opportunity for MFM South-East Region 6 to reflect on 29 years of ministry, celebrate its achievements and renew its commitment to faith, serv ice and positive impact in Abia State.
