“If He Is Serious About Cancelling NELFUND, He Should Begin by Making His University Free for All” — Daddy D.O Olusegun Challenges Atiku Over NELFUND Cancellation
Daddy D.O Olusegun has taken aim at former Vice President and ADC Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar over his reported position on the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), questioning the former vice president’s commitment to the welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
In a post on his X account, Olusegun argued that Atiku had not built anything specifically for the masses as a private citizen and therefore questioned whether he could be expected to prioritise their interests if elected president.
He also challenged Atiku over any plan to cancel NELFUND, saying the former vice president should first demonstrate his commitment to making education accessible by making his own university free to students.
The remarks come amid growing political debate over NELFUND, student financing and the future of education policy as political parties and presidential contenders position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
