Outrage as APC Hired Women Supporters Complain After Receiving ₦1,000 for Full Day at Nasarawa Rally
A viral video showing women who attended an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Nasarawa State expressing frustration after allegedly receiving just ₦1,000 each has sparked heated reactions online.
The women, many dressed in hijabs and traditional attire, were captured holding the ₦1,000 notes while openly voicing their disappointment after spending the day participating in the political gathering.
One of the women could be seen raising the money toward the camera and angrily expressing her displeasure, while others appeared visibly frustrated, shaking their heads and gesturing as they complained about the amount they received.
The incident has attracted attention because it comes shortly after another viral video showed a group of young men who reportedly spent the entire day dancing and campaigning for the APC receiving ₦1,500 each.
The young men, still wearing green campaign shirts bearing the image of President Bola Tinubu, were seen expressing disappointment over the payment.
The emergence of the two videos has triggered a fresh debate on social media over the treatment of supporters who participate in political rallies, particularly those mobilised to spend several hours campaigning under the sun.
Many Nigerians have questioned whether payments of ₦1,000 and ₦1,500 adequately reflect the time, effort and energy reportedly expended by the participants, especially amid the country’s rising cost of living.
The videos have also reignited broader conversations about political mobilisation in Nigeria and whether supporters are being fairly compensated for their participation or are being taken advantage of because of economic hardship.
While the circumstances surrounding the payments could not be independently verified from the videos alone, the scenes have nonetheless generated significant online discussion, with Nigerians offering sharply divided opinions over whether such payments are acceptable o
r exploitative.
