Joy as Aba Keke Rider Returns ₦1.2m Drone Equipment Left in Tricycle
A man was overwhelmed with joy and disbelief on Saturday, September 12, 2026, after recovering media equipment valued at about ₦1.2 million which he had mistakenly left inside a commercial tricycle in Aba, Abia State.
The emotional reunion took place at the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union (ASTOPU) Flyover Unit along Azikiwe Road, between Judges and Ube Streets, Aba, where the man was presented with the forgotten property after it was recovered and kept safely by the tricycle operators union.
According to the owner, he had inadvertently left the media gadget box inside the Keke after his journey. The box contained a DJI Phantom Drone and other valuable media equipment.
Upon opening and inspecting the box to confirm its contents, one of the items was identified as being worth about ₦200,000, while the combined value of the equipment was estimated at approximately ₦1.2 million.
The recovery left the owner visibly excited, particularly because of the prevailing economic challenges and the temptation such valuable equipment could present to anyone who found it.
He expressed deep appreciation to the leadership of ASTOPU and the Keke rider involved in ensuring that the property was returned intact, noting that the incident was a powerful demonstration of honesty, integrity and responsibility.
The man also reflected on the difficult economic realities facing Nigerians, observing that someone struggling with financial hardship could easily have been tempted to sell the equipment for quick money. Instead, the rider chose to do the right thing by ensuring that the property found its way back to its rightful owner.
He prayed for continued blessings and strength for the leadership of ASTOPU, as well as unity among its officials. He equally prayed for the Keke rider who returned the equipment, asking that God continue to bless and prosper the work of their hands.
The grateful owner also thanked God Almighty for making the recovery possible.
The incident has further strengthened public confidence in ASTOPU’s operations in Aba, particularly under the chairmanship of Comrade Victor Azubuike, while highlighting the importance of responsible conduct among commercial tricycle operators.
Beyond the recovery of a valuable piece of equipment, the development has provided another positive example of how integrity and professionalism among transport operators can build trust between commuters and the wider transport community.
The gesture also aligns with the broader efforts of the administration of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, to redefine and reposition transport operations in Abia State through improved organisation, discipline, accountability and responsible service to the public.
