Labour Party’s Political Momentum Surges in Abia as Five Serving House of Representatives Members Secure Nomination Forms Ahead of Forthcoming Electoral Processes
The Labour Party in Abia State has recorded another significant boost in its growing political consolidation following the formal collection of nomination forms by serving members of the House of Representatives elected under the platform of the party ahead of the forthcoming electoral processes.
The latest development is being viewed within political circles as a strong indication of the increasing unity, stability, confidence, and organizational strength currently existing within the Labour Party in Abia State, especially as the party continues to deepen its grassroots structures and expand its political influence across the state.
Party stakeholders described the move as a demonstration of loyalty and confidence by elected lawmakers in the leadership and direction of the Labour Party in Abia State under the current administration, while reaffirming the party’s commitment to sustaining its growing political relevance within the state and beyond.
The serving members of the House of Representatives who have officially received their nomination forms include:
Ginger Onwusibe — Representing Isiala Ngwa North/South Federal Constituency
Obi Aguocha — Representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency
Amobi Godwin Ogah — Representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency
Ibe Okwara Osonwa — Representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency
Alex Ikwechegh — Representing Aba North/South Federal Constituency
The party disclosed that the affected lawmakers are expected to proceed with the completion and submission of their nomination forms in accordance with the constitutional provisions, electoral guidelines, and laid down procedures of the Labour Party.
The Labour Party leadership also informed party faithful, supporters, and members of the public that the sale and collection of nomination forms remain ongoing across various elective positions as consultations and strategic engagements continue among stakeholders at different levels within the party structure.
According to party officials, the ongoing exercise forms part of broader preparations aimed at ensuring a credible, transparent, and peaceful pre-election process capable of strengthening internal democracy and promoting inclusiveness within the party.
The party further reiterated its commitment to transparency, fairness, due process, and internal democracy throughout all stages of its pre-election activities, stressing that the interests and aspirations of Abians would remain central to every decision and process undertaken by the party leadership.

Speaking on the development, the Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Peter Azubuike, assured members and supporters that the party remains determined to ensure peaceful conduct of all processes leading to the primaries and other pre-election activities.
He emphasized that unlike the crises and internal disagreements often witnessed in some political parties, the Labour Party in Abia State remains focused on preserving unity, discipline, and stability within its ranks while sustaining the confidence and trust reposed in the party by the people through responsible leadership and people-oriented governance.
