LABOUR PARTY SETS STAGE FOR 2026 ELECTIVE NATIONAL CONVENTION IN UMUAHIA
The stage is set for a pivotal moment in the history of the Labour Party as preparations reach top gear for its 2026 Elective National Convention scheduled to hold in Umuahia, Abia State.
The high-stakes gathering, billed for Tuesday, April 28, 2026, will take place at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Umuahia, with proceedings expected to commence promptly at 12 noon. Party stakeholders, delegates, and political observers from across the country are anticipated to converge in the Abia State capital for what is projected to be a defining event in the party’s evolving national structure.
The convention is expected to shape the future leadership direction of the party, as key decisions regarding its national leadership and strategic positioning ahead of future electoral engagements will take center stage.
Leading the planning and coordination of the convention is Rep. Hon. Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, who chairs the organizing committee, alongside Alhaji Comrade Salisu N. Muhammad, who serves as Secretary. Both figures are working in tandem with the party’s National Secretariat to ensure a seamless and impactful convention.
