Labour Party’s Grassroots Machine Gains Stronger Momentum in Abia as Gov. Alex Otti Reaffirms People-Centered Governance During Massive Bende Sensitization Tour
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has once again reaffirmed the rising grassroots strength and statewide acceptance of the Labour Party, describing the party as a truly people-oriented platform anchored on inclusive governance, performance, and service to the masses.
The governor made this declaration during the Labour Party’s familiarization and sensitization tour at the Bende Local Government Headquarters, where a large gathering of party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters converged in a show of solidarity, unity, and confidence in the party and the present administration.
The event was well attended by political appointees of Old Bende extraction, key stakeholders, party faithful, party executives, and other critical actors within the political space.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, Governor Otti expressed deep appreciation to the people of Bende for their steadfast loyalty to the Labour Party and unwavering support for the government. He described Bende as a strategic pillar in the party’s political strength and success in Abia State, commending party faithful for their resilience, commitment, and consistency.
Governor Otti noted that the massive turnout at the event was a clear reflection of unity, vitality, and strong grassroots connection, stressing that it further confirmed the widespread public acceptance of the Labour Party’s inclusive ideology and reform-driven agenda.
He explained that the statewide familiarization and sensitization engagements were deliberately designed to deepen interaction with citizens, listen to their concerns, strengthen internal party cohesion, and reinforce the bond between the government, the party, and the people.
Highlighting key achievements of his administration, Governor Otti stated that the mandate freely given by Abians is being faithfully honored through the regular payment of workers’ salaries, rehabilitation of long-neglected roads, enhanced transparency in public finance management, and sweeping reforms across public institutions.
He emphasized that governance in Abia State is now firmly anchored on performance, accountability, and service delivery, declaring that the era of politics without conscience has ended.
Looking ahead to the next political season, the governor urged party members to remain united, disciplined, and committed to sustained grassroots mobilization. He thanked the people of Bende for their continued support and assured them of the Labour Party’s determination to consolidate and expand the gains already recorded, expressing strong confidence in Abia State’s secure future under the party’s leadership.
In his remarks, the Acting State Chairman of the Labour Party, Hon. Emmanuel Otti, disclosed that the familiarization tour, which commenced in Aba North on August 11, 2025, was climaxing in Bende Local Government Area. He affirmed that the Labour Party is deeply rooted and actively present in every part of Abia State.
Hon. Otti noted that the present administration has delivered far beyond campaign promises, describing its leadership as transformative and impactful across critical sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, and agriculture, with visible improvements in the lives of the people.
He stressed that Abians, who entrusted their mandate to the current leadership in 2023, remain confident in the direction of governance and are prepared to renew that mandate in 2027, adding that tangible achievements speak louder than propaganda.
Earlier, the Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Dcn. Uwabunkeonye Bassey, pledged unwavering support for Governor Otti, declaring that Bende and indeed the entire Abia State stand solidly behind his administration.
He noted that remarkable progress has been achieved in less than three years, assuring that Bende remains fully committed to supporting the governor’s developmental initiatives across all local gove
rnment areas of the state.
