Maduro: Your action in Venezuela not straightforward – UK PM Starmer to US

British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, on Monday, said the action of the United States in Venezuela was not straightforward.

US forces recently captured Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. The couple are currently held in the US.

Starmer stated this to reporters on Monday while insisting that it was up to ‌the United States to justify its actions in Venezuela.

DAILY POST reports that Trump had, over the weekend, announced the capture of Maduro and his wife.

“What we need in Venezuela is a peaceful ⁠transition to democracy. That was our position before this weekend; it ⁠remains our position,” Starmer said (via Reuters).

“International law is the framework, the ‌anchor or the benchmark ‌against which we judge the actions ‍of all other governments.

“And it’s, of ‍course, for the U.S. to justify the action that it has taken. It’s not straightforward. It’s complicated, and even today, there ⁠are further developments.”
