Mob Justice Sparks Panic in SAMEC Axis of Ariaria International Market in Aba as Suspected Thief Lynched to Death

Panic and tension gripped the SAMEC area near the Ariaria International Market on Tuesday night following the brutal killing of a man accused of theft. The incident, which occurred between 9 pm and 11 pm, threw the busy commercial zone into chaos as traders and residents reacted in shock.

According to eyewitnesses and business owners, the unidentified man believed to be from the northern part of Nigeria was allegedly caught attempting to steal within the SAMEC area. Luck reportedly ran out on him when residents and business operators apprehended him. What followed was a violent mob attack, during which he was beaten and stoned to death before help could arrive.

As of the time of filing this report, the Councillor representing Ariaria Ward 09, Hon. Christopher Nnabude, had visited the scene to calm the rising tension among traders and residents.
