Monday Ubani SAN, Advocates Value-Based Leadership, Backs Gov. Otti’s Performance and Second-Term Bid as He Hosts GOMEP
Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Monday Ubani, has called for a new standard of value-based leadership among elected and appointed public office holders, stressing that political office must be seen as a responsibility to deliver measurable impact and people-centred governance.
Ubani made the remarks while hosting the National President of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers (GOMEP), Comrade Otti Treasure, during a visit to his country home in Umuosoko, Awomukwu, Ikwuano.
He emphasized that leaders must remain accountable to the electorate through policies and programmes that directly improve citizens’ welfare and drive sustainable development across communities.
The legal luminary pointed to the ongoing transformation in Abia State under Governor Alex Otti as a clear example of leadership driven by value and results. He noted that the administration’s development efforts and legacy projects have, within a relatively short time in office, significantly altered public perception of the state and restored confidence among residents.
According to him, the governance approach in Abia has helped erase long-standing negative impressions, with many citizens now expressing renewed pride in identifying as Abians both within and outside the country.
Ubani further declared that there is no vacancy in the Abia Government House in 2027, urging residents to support Governor Otti’s re-election bid to enable him consolidate on the progress already recorded and deepen ongoing reforms.
He argued that the governor has raised the bar of governance in the state within a short period and challenged stakeholders to imagine the level of development Abia could achieve with sustained leadership over two terms.
In his response, Comrade Otti Treasure, National President of GOMEP, commended Ubani for his consistent advocacy for human rights, social justice, and his contributions to the growth of the legal profession in Nigeria.
He assured that GOMEP remains committed to working with the legal icon in promoting accountability, fairness, and responsive leadership that prioritizes the needs of the people.
