MOUAU Senate Elects Prof. Princewill Ogbonna as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Development
The Senate of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) has elected the current Dean of the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (CNREM), Prof. Princewill Chukwudi Ogbonna, as the institution’s new Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Development.
Prof. Ogbonna emerged victorious during the university’s 261st Regular Senate Meeting held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, marking another significant milestone in his distinguished academic and administrative career.
His appointment, which is subject to ratification by the University Governing Council, will run for an initial tenure of two years.
A respected scholar and seasoned administrator, Prof. Ogbonna is an alumnus of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike and has played pivotal roles in the growth and development of the institution over the years. His wealth of experience in academic leadership and university administration is expected to further strengthen the university’s research, innovation, and development agenda.
Throughout his career at MOUAU, he has served in several strategic capacities, including Acting Director of the Directorate of University Advancement, Acting Head of the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, and Dean of the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (CNREM).
His emergence as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Development, is being viewed as a testament to his dedication, competence, and longstanding commitment to advancing the university’s academic excellence and research-driven mission.
