The reigning Miss University of Jos, Promise Dikko, has been thrown into deep mourning following the tragic killing of her fiancé by suspected bandits, in a devastating incident that has cut short their wedding plans and left her heartbroken.
Dikko confirmed the painful loss in an emotional Facebook post shared on Thursday, June 11, 2026, revealing that the couple had already completed preparations and made bookings ahead of their planned wedding ceremony scheduled for December 27, 2026.
According to her, what was meant to be a joyful countdown to marriage has now turned into grief and disbelief, as she struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss of her partner.
She wrote:
“Rip my hero. I kept this photo to post it when it close to wedding date,” she wrote.
“27th December was supposed to be the date. We have made prep and bookings.
“But you left me. Bandit k!lled you for me. Nigeria happened to me. Rest easy my hero.”
Her post has since drawn widespread sympathy and reactions online, as many mourn with her over the tragic incident that highlights the continuing insecurity challenges in parts of the country.
