Peter Obi Has Been A Part Of ADC Coalition From Inception
The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Anambra State has said that former presidential candidate Peter Obi is a member of the ADC coalition.
Speaking on Sunday in Awka, Nwosu dismissed speculations that Obi does not fully identify with the party.
He insisted that Obi was already a member of the ADC coalition, stating that positions were shared within ADC, and the Labour Party, as part of the coalition, had secured a position, which is still being occupied by a nominee of the former governor.
Nwosu said, “Labour Party where he (Peter Obi) was the presidential candidate in 2023 was among the key parties that make up the coalition of ADC, and they were given key position.
“PDP, which was given the National Chairman of the party, and that was Senator David Mark, then the APC, which was given National Secretary, and that is Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who is the former minister of interior. Labour party is represented by Hon Chinedu Idigo, appointed by His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi as the National Organizing Secretary and ADC as a party was given Welfare.
“So you can see that he (Mr Peter Obi) has been a part of us from the very inception of this coalition.”
When asked, as a former political ally of Peter Obi, whether he would advise him to run as his running mate, given the clamour to change the government at the centre, he said the APC government had failed and that any political move to remove it should be supported.
He said: “Like I always say, in politics, the best advice to accept is the one you give to yourself. When I was running for governor, I got advice from so many people, but at the end of the day, the decision to run was mine. 90 percent of the funding of my governorship campaign was mine, so I have to also take decision.
“So, for me, any position that is in the interest of the South East and the interest of Igbo people, I will support it. Anything that will bring us back to the centre of democratic activities in this country, I will support it.
“What is important to me is that today, the economy of the South East is below $100billion, but Lagos alone controls $262billion. Lagos is just one state in South West.
“So I plead with our people to come home, let us sit and strategize, so that we will know where we got it wrong and now make amends.”
