Police Rescue Former Minister Adelabu’s Sister, Twin Sons Alive After Fierce Gun Battle With Kidnappers
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a daring late-night operation carried out at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
The rescue mission, which came after days of intense intelligence gathering and tactical surveillance, led to a fierce gun duel between security operatives and the suspected kidnappers. During the confrontation, two members of the kidnapping gang were neutralised, while police recovered two firearms from the criminals.
The victims, including the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, were reportedly abducted in the early hours of June 3, 2026, while heading out to drop the children at school.
Security sources disclosed that sustained pressure mounted by police operatives, combined with strategic intelligence tracking, forced the kidnappers into a desperate confrontation that ultimately paved the way for the successful rescue of the victims without loss of life.
The development has been described as a major breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and violent crimes, especially amid growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the country.
Meanwhile, security operatives have intensified combing operations across nearby communities and forests in search of fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate. Some of the suspects are believed to have escaped the scene with gunshot wounds sustained during the exchange of fire with police.
Authorities have assured residents that efforts are ongoing to apprehend every member of the criminal network and bring them to justice.
