President Tinubu Appoints Ayodele Fayose as REA Chairman, Names 25 Others to Key Federal Agencies
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), as part of a fresh round of appointments into key Federal Government agencies and commissions.
The appointments, which affect 26 individuals across 10 federal agencies and commissions, were announced in a statement issued on Monday, July 20, 2026, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
As Chairman of the REA Board, Fayose will work alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors. The board is completed by the agency’s incumbent Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors.
In another major appointment, President Tinubu reconstituted the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission with eight new members. Major General Bindawa joins the commission, while former Lagos lawmaker, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed Secretary.
Also appointed as commissioners are Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian representing Benue State, Oladele Olatubosun representing Oyo State, and Yakubu Umar Barde representing Kaduna State. Other members of the commission include Dr. Mai Adamu Yau from Borno State, Ginika Florence Tor from Enugu State, Engineer Lawrence Okoh from Edo State, and Bello Morenike Iyabode from Kogi State.
President Tinubu also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who had earlier been appointed Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
The President further approved the appointment of Dr. Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr. Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET), and Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
In the agricultural sector, Engineer Julius Oloro, a former council chairman, was named Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State. He succeeds Dr. A.R. Kamal, who passed away in January.
President Tinubu also inaugurated a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
For the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
In the Federal Housing Authority, President Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director, Finance, replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to contest the Benue State governorship election. Iorja is an economist, legal scholar, and academic who currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC).
The latest appointments form part of the Tinubu administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership across strategic government institutions responsible for power, fiscal management, housing, population, agriculture, literacy, and national development.
