Prince Uzo Fires Back at Promise Uzoma Okoro Over Obingwa Council Road Debate

The lingering debate over the condition of the road leading to Obingwa Local Government Headquarters has taken a new turn, as community leader, Chief Prince Uzo Ogidinta, has issued a strong response to criticisms raised by media personality, Promise Uzoma Okoro.

Chief Uzo, in a statement on Sunday, emphasized the need to set the record straight, pointing out that the controversial stretch of road which passes through his Ihieorji Village in Alaoma Autonomous Community was neglected for years despite the fact that Obingwa produced a governor for two terms.

“For eight years, Abia State had a Governor from our local government, yet the road from Okpulor Umuobo to the council headquarters was abandoned less than one kilometre to completion.

“Today, some critics pretend this history does not exist,” he said.

He maintained that the present Obingwa Chairman, Hon. Maxwell Nwadike, who assumed office only ten months ago, has shown clear commitment to addressing community needs.

According to him, Governor Alex Otti has already approved the completion of the road, and preliminary palliative measures are expected to commence soon to ease the plight of residents and commuters.

Chief Uzo called for fairness in assessment, stressing that rather than castigate, critics should acknowledge ongoing efforts. He specifically challenged Promise Uzoma Okoro to showcase his own record of service during his time as Deputy Chairman of Bende LGA before questioning the efforts of Obingwa’s current leadership.

“Progress takes time, but with Governor Otti’s approval and the Chairman’s dedication, Obingwa will not be left behind,” he assured.
