Remi Tinubu Extends APC Reach, Donates Vehicles to Women Leaders in Opposition States Including Abia, Anambra, Oyo, Others.
Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reinforced the grassroots strength of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) by donating vehicles to women leaders of the party in five opposition-controlled states across the country.
The gesture was announced on Tuesday during the inauguration ceremony of the Tinubu Torchbearers (TTB), a pro-Tinubu support group, held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja. The event attracted party loyalists, supporters, women groups, and political stakeholders who gathered to reaffirm support for the administration and the APC ahead of future political engagements.
The beneficiaries of the empowerment initiative are APC women leaders from Abia, Anambra, Bauchi, Osun, and Oyo states. States currently not governed by the ruling party but where the APC continues to maintain active political structures and loyal supporters.
Speaking during the event, the First Lady praised the resilience and dedication of women who have continued to sustain the party’s presence in opposition territories despite political challenges and limited access to government structures.
“To all our women leaders in states where we do not have APC governors but have committed party members, your vehicles will be ready before the end of the week,” Oluremi said.
She further clarified that the vehicles were personal gifts to the women leaders and not official party property.
“The vehicles are your personal vehicles. You are not giving them to the party. Register them in your names and use them for the service of the party and your communities,” she stated.
The First Lady also used the opportunity to encourage APC governors across the country to prioritize and support women leaders within the party structure, emphasizing the important role women play in grassroots mobilization, community engagement, and party development.
“I urge our governors to buy vehicles for their women leaders. We are not playing politics like before. We are politicians, and people should see the value in us,” she added.
The donation is being viewed by political observers as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the APC’s grassroots machinery in states controlled by opposition parties while boosting the morale of women leaders who continue to champion the party’s agenda at the local level.
Oluremi Tinubu also highlighted the conduct of the APC’s recent primaries, describing them as a reflection of the party’s commitment to internal democracy, unity, and peaceful resolution of disagreements among members.
The inauguration of the Tinubu Torchbearers further signals growing political mobilization around President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as support groups continue to emerge across the country in preparation for futur
e political contests.
