Santa Barbara Authorities Arrest Traveling Nursing Assistant, Kayode Agbolade Ogunba, Over Alleged Sexual Abuse of Elderly Patients Across Multiple States
Santa Barbara County law enforcement officials have arrested a certified nursing assistant accused of sexually abusing vulnerable patients while employed at a nursing facility in Goleta, in a case that has raised serious concerns about patient safety and interstate employment screening.
The suspect, identified as Kayode Agbolade Ogunba, came under investigation in early November after management at the Goleta nursing home reported allegations that he sexually assaulted two residents under his care. Detectives from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office launched an inquiry following the report, gathering evidence that ultimately led to the issuance of an arrest warrant.
As the investigation progressed, authorities discovered that Ogunba had been linked to similar allegations in the Los Angeles area. Further checks revealed that he is believed to have previously worked in other states, including Washington and Texas, prompting concerns that additional victims may exist beyond Santa Barbara County.
Law enforcement officials also disclosed that Ogunba may have used the name Kay in professional or personal environments, a detail released to assist potential witnesses or victims who may recognize him.
Ogunba was arrested last Tuesday in Los Angeles on a Santa Barbara County warrant and has since been transferred to the Santa Barbara County Main Jail. He is currently being held on $100,000 bail.
Authorities stated that he is facing multiple felony charges, including sexual penetration and elder abuse.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the matter and is encouraging anyone with information or who may have had contact with the suspect in a professional caregiving setting to come forward, as detectives work to determine the full scope of the alleged offenses.
