Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted former Ogun State House of Assembly member, Musa Moruf at his residence in Ibiade, Ogun Waterside local government area of the state.

DAILY POST gathered that the former lawmaker was kidnapped at about 7:00pm on Monday, while having a prayer in the mosque within his compound.

According to a source who pleaded anonymous, Moruf struggled with the kidnappers for about 20 minutes before he was whisked away through a nearby bush.

The suspected kidnappers were reported to have shot sporadically to scare residents from making effort to attack them.

Unconfirmed report also indicated that some of the residents sustained some gun shots injuries.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Tuesday told DAILY POST that adequate security measures including the deployment of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, have been activated to rescue the victim.

Babaseyi urged members of the public to remain calm and reiterated the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and properties of citizens.

He said, “The Ogun State Police Command is aware of the reported abduction of Hon. Musa Moruf in Ibiade, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.

“Security measures have been activated, including the deployment of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and the public is advised to remain calm pending official updates.”

Musa Moruf was a member of the Ogun state 6th Assembly representing Ogun Waterside State Constituency.
