“You Are the True Heroes of the New Abia“ — Dodoh Okafor Salutes Supporters of Governor Alex Otti, Urges Sustained Momentum Ahead of Future Political Battles
A prominent voice in Abia’s evolving political conversation, Dodoh Okafor, has publicly applauded supporters of Governor Alex Otti, describing them as the driving force behind what he called the “New Abia” narrative.
In a strongly worded message shared on his Facebook page, Okafor paid glowing tribute to loyalists of the Abia State Governor, commending their consistency and resilience in promoting the administration’s achievements across multiple platforms and spaces.
Addressing supporters directly, he declared: “Dear supporters of Dr. Alex Otti, the Executive Governor of Abia State, you are, one and all, male and female, old and young, the true heroes of the New Abia…”
Okafor highlighted the growing influence of grassroots advocacy, noting that supporters have taken the message of the current administration beyond traditional political channels.
According to him, they have remained active not only on social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok, but also on radio, television debates, community centres, and even on the streets.
“You are online, Facebook particularly, but you are also on X, Instagram and TikTok, selling the story of our great State, and pushing back at voices of revisionism,” he wrote.
He further emphasized that the reach of these supporters cuts across every layer of society: “You are on radio… If there are TV stations where the floor is open for Abia debates, you are there, live and direct… You are in the streets… You are in community centres… You are on WhatsApp groups… You are wherever man is found…”
Okafor credited this widespread engagement for amplifying what he described as a “miracle of leadership” unfolding across Abia State, with citizens actively sharing developments from their immediate environments, including neighborhoods, workplaces, and schools.
In a striking metaphor, he commended supporters for resisting inducements and distractions, stating: “The aroma of ofe egusi has not moved you… Fried rice does not excite you... Neither does chicken or chips.”
According to him, this unwavering stance has helped sustain focus on what he termed the state’s ongoing transformation.
The message also took a firm swipe at opposition elements, with Okafor praising supporters for standing their ground against criticism and political attacks. He acknowledged accusations often leveled against them, including claims of bitterness and malice, but argued that such emotions were rooted in lived experiences under previous administrations.
“Some said you are bitter… Yes, you have the right to be bitter,” he stated, linking that sentiment to past infrastructural decay and insecurity in parts of the state, particularly Isuikwuato and Umunneochi.
Referencing the 2023 political shift, Okafor suggested that public dissatisfaction with the previous government played a decisive role in ushering in the current leadership, adding that the same resolve must be maintained.
He also framed the supporters’ so-called “malice” as a reaction to systemic failures that, in his view, deprived many of opportunities and dignity.
“You have a right to bear malice against those who stole your dreams… who turned brilliant young boys into keke riders and internet fraudsters… and intelligent girls into street hawker and ‘nail engineers,’” he wrote.
Describing the current moment as a turning point, Okafor declared: “Your malice against the treachery of the old order is the reason we have a new beginning… Abia has risen…”
He concluded with a rallying call for sustained vigilance and unity, urging supporters not to relent despite criticism from political opponents.
“Let their attacks spur you to be more resilient… We shall win again,” he affirmed.
The statement has since generated conversations across political circles, reflecting the deepening engagement of grassroots supporters in shaping Abia’s political narrative ahead of future electoral contests.
