ABIA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY DEFERS CONSIDERATION OF KEY REPORTS AND BILL, ADJOURNS PLENARY TO OCTOBER 8, 2025
The Abia State House of Assembly has deferred the consideration of several critical committee reports and a major legislative bill to a later date, which will be communicated in due course.
Among the items postponed for further legislative deliberation were the Report of the House Committee on Environment, Urban Renewal, and NEWMAP on the erosion menace devastating Ebem, Ohafia, and other communities in Ohafia Local Government Area, as well as another report addressing the erosion crisis affecting JOMEC School, Umuagu Ibeku.
Also deferred was the Abia State Startup Bill, 2025 (H.A.B. 32), a significant piece of legislation expected to stimulate entrepreneurship, innovation, and job creation among Abia youths.
Similarly, the Report of the House Committee on Public Petitions and Judiciary on a petition titled “Re-report of a case of Abuse of Office and Unlawful Investment, Obtain by Tricks the shops Legitimately Allocated to us since 1991 by the then Imo State Government” was stepped down for further consideration.
Following the deferrals, the House concluded its proceedings and adjourned its plenary session to Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
The motion for adjournment was moved by the Majority Leader and duly seconded by the Minority Leader. Upon a unanimous voice vote, the motion was adopted by the House.
