The Vice Chancellor of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, Professor Ndukwe Okeudo, has applauded Governor Alex Otti for his remarkable efforts in ensuring the safety and welfare of students through the successful deployment of Operation Crush, a joint security task force that has effectively eliminated cases of student kidnappings around the university community.

Speaking during the 2025 World Tourism Day celebration held in Umuahia on Saturday, October 11, 2025, and organized by the Abia State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, Professor Okeudo, represented by Professor Dick Uduma, Dean of Student Affairs, commended the Otti-led administration for its strategic and sustained intervention in restoring peace and order across the state.

He recalled the troubling experiences of past years when bandits operated freely and kidnapped students for ransom, creating fear and instability around the Uturu axis. He noted that those dark days have become a thing of the past due to the Governor’s proactive and coordinated security measures.

“The management can tell you that the government has done so much through Operation Crush. The stories you heard years back have been handled by the Governor. The issue of kidnapping of students is now a thing of the past,” Okeudo stated.

Beyond security, the Vice Chancellor also praised the Abia State Government for improving the living standards of students through massive infrastructural upgrades within the institution. He specifically commended the recent completion of new student hostels, which have replaced old and dilapidated buildings, thereby providing a more conducive environment for learning and personal development.

Professor Okeudo’s remarks underscore the growing confidence in Governor Otti’s administration, which has continued to prioritize safety, education, and welfare as key pillars in rebuilding a new and prosperous Abia State.
